Our Mission, Vision, and Values

HOE Mission statement

what do we exist to do?

Our mission is to improve outcomes for children and young people who are too unwell to access education in their usual school and require Hospital Education. Our goal is to reintegrate pupils to their usual setting, or other long term provision, where they will be included, with reasonable adjustments if necessary.

We will support children and young people

  • Age 5-16 years (up to the end of Year 11) who are unable to attend school due to their physical or mental health condition
  • Post 16 pupils who are in-patients in the hospital settings
  • Post 16 outreach pupils who have missed significant amounts of their key stage 4 education due to their medical/mental health difficulties

HOE Vision

What do we want to look like in the future? What will pupils leave the school knowing, being and having done?

Our pupils will leave us with the academic, social and emotional skills to enable them to access the next stage of their lifelong journey, becoming a fulfilled, happy and successful member of society and make positive contributions to their community.

To do this we will:

  1. support pupils to reintegrate back to their main school or another appropriate setting
  2. support Post 16 pupils to transition to the next phase
  3. provide a personalised learning programme that enables pupils to make progress academically, socially and emotionally
  4. provide a safe working environment where pupils are welcomed and happy
  5. adopt a nurturing and non judgemental approach rooted in our values and skills curriculum
  6. engage in excellent multidisciplinary team work
  7. give hope to pupils and their family for an optimistic future

We will continuously improve our service using regular feedback from all stakeholders to ensure the experience for pupils, parents and staff is the best it can be. In doing this we aim to be nationally recognised as the best medical needs provision in the UK.
